UPSC has published a notice to candidates
(the last was 18th Feb 2010 for applicants from abroad and to those posting applications from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, States in the North Eastern Region, J&K State, Sikkim, Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba, Lahual & Spiti Districts of Himachal Pradesh)
Lahaul & Spiti District of Himachal Pradesh.
The selection process was meant for Twenty (20) Posts of Education Officer/Assistant Director of Education in the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, Secretariat Education Department.

The UPSC is now conducting a Competition Examination for filling up these posts at Delhi Centre only:
Details of Exam:
Forenoon of 29 April 2012 (Sunday)
Time of Exam: 02.00 PM to 04.00 PM,
UPSC has released the scheme, and syllabus of the examination. The Exam will be conducted at Delhi Centre (Delhi Code No. 08) only.
Note:-
1. UPSC will intimate about the venue of the Recruitment Test in due course to the candidates.
2. UPSC shall decide the respective weight-age of the recruitment test and interview.

Scheme of Examination:
(i) The test will be of two hours duration and the medium of the question paper will be both Hindi and English.
(ii) The test will be an objective type with multiple choices of answers and carry a maximum of 100 marks.
(iii) There will be penalty for wrong answer. Every wrong answer will carry a deduction of one-third of the marks assigned to that question. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question.

It will comprises of six topics:
(i) General Knowledge including contemporary social, economic and cultural issues
(ii) Hindi and English language skills
(iii) Reasoning ability & Quantitative aptitude
(iv) Educational policies & Educational measurement and evaluation
(v) Management & Financial administration
