Highlights of Civil Services (Exam), 2010

The Civil Services Examination is the most important and prestigious examination amongst various examinations conducted by the UPSC. It attracts largest number of candidates from the entire length and breadth of the country. The selected candidates are appointed to the higher Civil Services of the country.

Following are the important highlights of the Civil Services Examination, 2010, for which final result has been declared on 11 May 2011: 

• A total number of 5,47,698 candidates applied for this examination, 2,69,036 candidates appeared for the Preliminary examination, which was conducted on May 23, 2010. 
• 12,491 candidates qualified for the Main written examination held in October ¡V November, 2010. 2589 candidates were short listed for the Personality Test conducted in March-April, 2011. 
• Finally, 920 candidates (717 male and 203 female) have been recommended for appointment to the IAS, IFS, IPS and other Central Services. 
• Ms. S.Divyadharshini (Roll NO.014421), a female candidate, has topped the Civil Services Examination, 2010. She has done B.A., B.L.(Hons.) from Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai. This is her second attempt. 
• The second ranker is Ms. Sweta Mohanty (Roll NO.316736). She has done B.Tech (Computer Science) from GRIET, JNTU, Hyderabad. This is her third attempt. 
• Mr. RV Varun Kumar (Roll No.021490), is the topper among male candidates. He has secured overall third rank. He has done BDS from Ragas Dental College, Chennai. This is his third attempt. 
• The Top 25 candidates consist of 20 males and 5 females. 
• Educational qualification ¡Vwise the top 25 candidates comprise of 15 candidates belonging to Engineering; 5 candidates belonging to Commerce, Management, Humanities, Science & Social Sciences; and 5 candidates belonging to Medical Science background. 
• Out of the Top 25 candidates, 8 have made to the merit list in their first attempt, 4 in second attempt, 9 in third attempt, 3 in fourth attempt and 1 in fifth attempt. 
• Of the 920 candidates recommended, 28 are physically challenged candidates ¡V 14 orthopaedically challenged; 5 visually impaired and 9 hearing impaired.

• The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct Combined Defence Services Examination (I) – 2012 on 12th February, 2012 (Sunday) at 41Centers all over India. 
• The Commission has introduced the facility of generating e-Admit Card (Admission Certificate) for this Examination for convenience of candidates. 
• The candidates can download their Admission Certificate from the Union Public Service Commission website www.upsc.gov.in. 
• Candidates are advised to take the printout of the Admission Certificate and produce the same for appearing at the allotted venue for this examination. 
• No paper Admission Certificate will be sent by post.

Note:

In case the photograph is not printed/available on the e-Admit Card (Admission Certificate), candidates are advised to carry three (3) photographs (one identical photograph for each session) alongwith proof of identity such as Identity Card or Voter Identity Card or Passport or Driving License and printout of e-Admit Card (Admission Certificate) at the venue of the Examination.

UPSC Special Class Railway Apprentices' (SCRA) Exam 2011 Results Announced on 09th January 2012

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the result of Special Class Railway Apprentices’ (SCRA) Examination, 2011 on the basis of result of the Special Class Railway Apprentices’ Examination, the written examination for which was held on 31st July, 2011 followed by Personality Test from 19th December, 2011 to 21st December, 2011.  Against the 42 vacancies reported by Railway Ministry, the following is the list, in order of merit, of 42 candidates { 19 General (including 02 PH-I), 13 Other Backward Classes (including 01 PH-I) 06 Scheduled Castes and 04 Scheduled Tribes (including 01 PH-I)} who have been recommended by the Commission for appointment as Special Class Railway Apprentices in the Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineers.  The medical examination for these recommended candidates shall be conducted by the Ministry of Railways. A communication for medical examination is expected to be issued by the Ministry of Railways to the candidates individually within 21 days from the date of declaration of final result. Result will also be available on the UPSC web site i.e. www.upsc.gov.in. 

Further the relevant marks are likely to be available on the Commission’s Website within 15 days from the declaration of the final result for access to candidates. The candidates can access these marks on the Website after keying their Roll No. and date of birth when prompted to do so at the appropriate link.

एससीआरए परीक्षा,2011 के परिणाम घोषित

संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (यूपीएससी) ने विशेष श्रेणी रेलवे अप्रेन्टिस (एससीआरए) परीक्षा, 2011के परिणाम घोषित कर दिये हैं। इस परीक्षा के लिए 19 से 21 दिसंबर 2011 को व्यक्तित्व परीक्षण से पूर्व 31 जुलाई 2011 को एक लिखित परीक्षा का आयोजन किया गया था। रेलवे मंत्रालय के द्वारा निकाली गई 42 रिक्तियों के लिए मैरिट के अनुसार 42 उम्मीदवारों (19 सामान्य (02 पीएच-1सहित), 13 अन्य पिछड़े वर्गों (01 पीएच-1 सहित), 6 अनुसूचित जाति और 4 अनुसूचित जनजाति (01 पीएच-1 सहित) को मैकेनिकल इंजीनियर्स की भारतीय रेल सेवा में विशेष श्रेणी रेलवे अप्रेन्टिस के तौर पर नियुक्ति के लिए आयोग द्वारा संस्तुति की गयी है। आयोग द्वारा सिफारिश किये गये इन उम्मीदवारों की चिकित्सीय परीक्षा रेल मंत्रालय द्वारा आयोजित की जाएगी। रेल मंत्रालय द्वारा उपर्युक्त परीक्षा के अंतिम परिणाम घोषित किये जाने की तिथि से 21 दिनों के भीतर व्यक्तिगत रूप से चिकित्सा परीक्षा के लिए उम्मीदवारों को पत्र जारी किये जाने की उम्मीद है।
